IntesisBox® KNX/EIB

This gateway offers a KNX TP1 (EIB) as main interface and a second interface talking another protocol. It allows to read/control an external system from KNX/EIB or vice versa. Acts as one more device into the KNX system, allowing to access the external system from any other KNX device.

Hardware

The hardware platform for this gateway is IntesisBox®

External systems available for integration into KNX building control systems

  • Configuration

The configuration and supervison of the gateway is done through LinkBoxEIB software, a software tool for Microsoft Windows operating systems supplied (free of charge) with the gateway and with the following main features:

  • Visual engineering tool, easy of use.
  • Multi-window tool allowing to supervise simultaneously the communication activity with both protocols (systems).
  • Window for viewing the real time values for all the signals allowing to modify any value (very useful for test purposes).
  • Console window showing debug and working status messages.
  • Configuration windows to configure all the gateway’s parameters and signals.
  • Signals configuration in plain text files (tab separated) for easy and quick configuration using Microsoft Excel (very useful in projects with a lot of points).
  • Allows to configure the gateway’s parameters and signals (points) while in off-line, this is, not connected to the gateway. You can configure/modify the gateway parameters comfortably in the office and later download the configuration to the gateway in the field.
  • Connection to the gateway for download the configuration and supervision by using a serial COM port of the PC (serial cable supplied with the gateway).
  • Allows to configure all the external protocols available for IntesisBox® - KNX/EIB series.
  • Upgrades for this software tool available free of charge whenever a new protocol is added to the IntesisBox® - KNX/EIB series.
  • Multi-project tool allowing to have in the engineer’s PC the configuration for all the sites with IntesisBox® - KNX/EIB series gateways installed.
  • Multi-language tool, all the language-dependent strings are in a plain text file (tab separated) for easy modification or addition of new languages.
  • A list of system commands is available to send to the gateway, for debugging and adjust purposes (Reset, Date/time consultation/adjust, Firmware version request...).
  • KNX TP1 (EIB) interface

  • Integrated KNX TP1 opto-isolated bus coupler for direct connection to EIB bus (2 poles plug-in screw terminal block connector).
  • Physical address configurable.
  • All the points in the gateway can be read from KNX/EIB. (Configurable individually per point).
  • All the points in the gateway can be written from KNX/EIB. (Configurable individually per point).
  • A telegram can be sent to KNX/EIB following a change in any point's value. (Configurable individually per point).
  • Any point's value can be updated with a reading from KNX/EIB system when the gateway starts up. (Configurable individually per point).
  • Multiple EIB group addresses can actuate on the same gateway’s point.
  • ** Small & Low Cost gateways have specific hardware and the configuration is done directly using standard tool KNX ETS software. Consult datasheet in every case for details about ETS database. ETS databases available at downloads section.
